Dreams of Malaysia brings nine Malaysian artists into Kepler Club at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Three were invited directly. Six were selected from an open call. Every one of them answered the same brief: what does rest look like in a building designed for movement?
The results are installed across the facility — in the sleep lounge, along the corridors and inside the rooms themselves. Below, each artist introduces their work in their own words.
Ashikin Hussin — Eureka
Ashikin Hussin, also known as Eureka of EurekartStudio, is a Malaysian artist and illustrator whose work draws inspiration from nature, colour, celestial elements, and everyday life. Her work blends whimsical and modern aesthetics to create pieces that feel both joyful and meaningful.
Drift into Dreams explores a serene underwater dreamscape, evoking calm, rest, and quiet escape — a subtle metaphor for drifting into sleep. The composition features delicate sea creatures within a harmonious, controlled palette, creating a soothing and calming visual experience.
Nurul Atika — Newruul
Nurul Atika is an artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Growing up with video games and comics, it's her biggest influence in her artwork style today. Doing character illustrations is her favourite thing — sometimes you'd see her doing some fan art too.
Nurul sees her art as a medium for real and honest communication, mostly a self reflection of things around her.
Dedicated to my cat, Kitty, who has been around for 15 years of adventures with me, especially in my grieving journey. Other than human loved ones, don’t forget your furry friends too. They look at you as if they understand you. Day and night, she falls asleep beside me. We found comfort in each other’s presence.
Afiq
Visual artist, mural painter, and creative director based in Malaysia. Exploring anti-style graffiti, street culture, fashion, and raw visual experimentation through murals, branding, and wearable design. Co-founder of AKUdesign and founder of AKUlabs.
This artwork is a visual meditation on rest and quiet movement — an abstract landscape where the mind drifts between wakefulness and dreams. Flowing forms and layered gradients echo the rhythm of breath slowing down, inviting a sense of calm and stillness.
The soft transitions of colour, from deep twilight tones to gentle luminous highlights, reflect the passage from evening into sleep. Curved lines and floating shapes suggest a journey without urgency — like travelling through thoughts, memories, and distant places while the body rests. It speaks to the quiet luxury of slowing down.
Quincee
Quincee is a Penang-based illustrator and art educator whose work explores whimsical storytelling, character design and poetic environments. Inspired by nature, quiet moments, and playful imagination, her illustrations often blend soft character design with atmospheric spatial compositions.
Quincee created a calming, dreamlike underwater wall work inspired by sea life.
Adam Ross
I'm a young Malaysian artist and recent animation graduate from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, working primarily in pen, ink, and watercolour.
This series explores Malaysia’s architectural heritage through studies of traditional shophouse façades inspired by my travels to Melaka, Perak, and Penang. Each work presents variations that emphasise distinctive regional features and formal qualities, reflecting my interest in history, storytelling, and cultural identity.
By focusing on these structures, the works seek to highlight their cultural significance within the built environment. A palette of greens, blues, pinks, and soft pastels establishes a calm, contemplative atmosphere that encourages a quiet viewing experience.
Chuang Art Studio — Dreamo City
In the Dreams of Malaysia project, Wahooo, a Malayan Tiger, symbolises courage, curiosity, and the spirit of exploration. As part of Dreamo City — an IP by Chuang Art Studio, founded by Yonsen and Khamen — Wahooo brings imagination and magic into everyday life.
Inspired by Malaysia’s iconic wildlife, the Malayan Tiger represents strength and resilience, grounding the character in local identity.
Goodnight, Explorer (upper bedroom). After a full day of adventure, Wahooo puts on a cosy nightcap, hugs a soft pillow, and rests in a warm bed. This piece highlights the importance of rest after exploration — a gentle reminder that recharging is essential before stepping into the next journey.
Play Among Blooms (lower bedroom). Wahooo rolls freely across a field filled with hibiscus flowers, joyfully playing with butterflies drifting by. This artwork reflects a return to innocence and nature, celebrating simple moments of happiness, freedom, and carefree imagination.
OCMay
OCMay is a Malaysian artist and visual storyteller whose work explores the emotional connection between humans, wildlife, and the changing environment. Through a blend of illustration and acrylic painting, she creates symbolic narratives that reflect environmental fragility and advocate for coexistence and conservation.
Based in Southeast Asia, her perspective is shaped by the region’s rich biodiversity and ongoing ecological challenges. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
Mind Chasing is part of the "Origin" series, which explores self-discovery, creativity, and transformation. The work depicts a person in office attire joyfully chasing a kite shaped like their own brain — a symbol of pursuing passion and purpose.
It reflects the journey from imagination to action, and from restraint to honesty. Through this imagery, the piece encourages embracing one’s true desires and chasing dreams with courage, joy, and determination.
Jazz Ton
Jazz Ton is a contemporary artist from Malaysia, known for his Fragment of Mind(s) (F.O.M) series. His work explores fragments of consciousness, where thoughts, memories, and emotions exist in abstract forms.
Through layered structures and fluid connections, each piece reflects the unseen inner world of the mind — constantly shifting, yet interconnected.
For this project, the work responds to the idea of Dreams of Malaysia, presenting a visual interpretation of thought as a living, evolving space.
Yong Xin — Snappyme
Yong Xin, also known as Snappyme, is an illustrator based in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Her work features playful characters with small heads and bold, vibrant colours, capturing moments from everyday life.
Inspired by human emotions and quiet observations, she creates scenes that feel both lighthearted and personal. Through her illustrations, she hopes to bring a sense of warmth, familiarity, and a gentle pause to those who encounter them.
"The Long Pause" reflects a quiet moment within the rush of everyday life. As rain falls outside, I imagine different versions of myself slowing down, resting, and simply being. It is a gentle pause — a soft reflection of ourselves in between all that is moving.

All nine works are on view inside Kepler Club at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, airside and landside.
